Counselling for Trauma
Free Counselling for Trauma
We offer a free and private counselling service for Deaf, deafblind and hard-of-hearing women who have experienced trauma.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a type of talking therapy. You meet with a trained therapist who listens and supports you. They help you understand your thoughts and feelings, and find ways to cope.
They won’t tell you what to do or give advice – they help you find your own answers.
Counselling can help you with:
- Trauma
- Mental health problems like depression or anxiety
- Abuse or domestic violence
- Building confidence to leave an abusive relationship
- PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
- Big life changes, like losing someone or a relationship ending
- Strong emotions like anger, fear or rejection
Contact Deaf-initely Women to check if you can get free counselling.
You may be offered:
- One session
- A short course of up to 5 sessions
- Sessions in person, on the phone, or online using Zoom
Counselling takes time, but you may start to feel better after a few sessions.
Who are the counsellors?
Our counsellors are Deaf and fully trained. They understand your communication needs and will:
- Listen to you
- Support you
- Never judge or criticise you
They will help you understand what you’re feeling and help you work through your problems in your own way.
