Community Advocacy Service

We provide a free independent general advocacy service for deaf women living in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Our aim is to empower you to express your views, wishes and feelings about important situations, decisions and issues affecting your life.

Whether you’re facing housing issues, need support with navigating benefits appeals or tribunals, have problems with social care and health needs or feel you are being discriminated against, our Advocates are here to support you when you feel you are not being fully involved in your situation or listened to.

What We Offer

Our Advocates can support and empower you to:

  • Express your views and wishes about your situation

  • Understand and explore your rights, choices and options

  • Prepare for and attend meetings and appointments

  • Be involved in decisions about your life

  • Access relevant services, information and support

We offer general non-statutory advocacy for a range of issues and we can signpost you to other services if we cannot support you ourselves.

Who is this for?

Women who are:

  • Deaf, whose first language is BSL
  • deaf
  • hard of hearing
  • deafblind
  • experiencing acquired hearing loss
  • BaHa / Cochlear Implant users.

For deaf women living outside Derby/shire and Nottingham/shire, there will be a charge. To request a quote, please contact our Advocacy Manager.
