Inspiring Journeys for Deafblind Women: Molly

We’ve asked three remarkable deafblind women to share their journeys and insights about living with a Deafblind condition, as well as their hobbies and passions. Their stories are a true inspiration.

Molly’s Journey: How Yoga Became a Foundation for Life

Thirteen years ago, Molly discovered yoga during her first year at university. Eager to try new activities, she quickly fell in love with practicing yoga.

“I had an incredible teacher who guided me through my five years at university,” she shares. “After graduating, I knew yoga had become a valuable part of my life.”

Over the years, Molly explored styles such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Ashtanga, and Aerial Yoga.

Yoga’s accessibility and inclusivity resonated deeply with her. “Yoga isn’t just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and spiritual. It’s a way of life,” she explains.

Accessibility has been key to Molly’s yoga journey. She sought teachers who adapted to her needs, such as minimising background music, using good lighting, and providing clear communication. “Talking to teachers beforehand about my needs has made yoga inclusive for me,” she says. “There’s a style of yoga for everyone—it’s all about finding the right support.”

The benefits of yoga go beyond the mat for Molly. “Mindful breathing and yoga philosophy have helped me in everyday life,” she shares. Inspired by her journey, Molly has completed her yoga teacher training and is now pursuing advanced training.

Outside yoga, Molly enjoys dance, ballet, walking, cycling, swimming, runnin, baking, cooking, and reading. Her advice, “Find what you love, communicate your needs, and surround yourself with people who support you. Opportunities are everywhere—take them!”

For Molly, yoga is more than a practice—it’s a foundation for life. “Yoga has helped me grow and embrace challenges. It’s taught me to focus on what I can do and find joy in the process.”
