Derby Deaf Wellbeing Service

Dec 12, 2022

Deaf-initely Women, Community Action Derby, Derby Living Well Board and 7 other charities, including Derbyshire Mind, have joined forces to set up Derby Deaf Wellbeing service for deaf, deafblind and hard-of-hearing people living in the city helping them to improve and manage their mental health and well-being.

This is the first of its kind to be able to deliver specialist services to all deaf people experiencing low moods including mental health.

Two Well-being Coaches, Emma and Sarah, are trained to provide one-to-one support. Both have direct experience of deafness and mental health and can give peer support to others. Both Emma and Sarah have recently passed their Mental Health First Aider from MHFA England.

We are pleased to report that Sarah has won an award for Inspirational Story of the Year from Mental Health Roots. Well done Sarah!
