Becky and Veronica would like to thank everyone who came along to our Sign and Chat sessions in June and July.
These sessions were a chance for all deaf women including deafblind and hard-of-hearing women to meet up, connect and chat (plus have some yummy refreshments!). Everyone had a great time and the women who came have told us they would like more opportunities to do this again.
Following their success, we are working with our fabulous Social Connectors to put on more dates throughout September and October in different areas of Derbyshire including Derby, Belper, Buxton, Bolsover, Swadlincote, Chesterfield and Glossop. Please see our website for more information or email Becky (email address below)
As part of the Social Connect project, Becky and the Social Connectors will be looking at more events and opportunities for deaf women to make connections with each other and their communities. We will keep you posted!
Our Social Connectors are all Deaf, deafblind or HOH women themselves, with lived experience of the barriers we can face every day. They can support you to find out more about what we do as an organisation, connect you to our different services and free workshops, provide some 1-1 digital training around accessible apps such as Text Relay/zoom etc and generally support you to make connections and links with different community and peer groups.
If you would like to find out more about our sessions/events, make an appointment to see a Social Connector or help and support our project by completing a quick, anonymous survey, then please email Becky at becky@deafinitelywomen.org.uk
