Deaf Gals have an Arty Party!

Jul 1, 2022

With generous funding from the Arts Council, Deaf-initely Women is proud to host exciting Arts programmes over the next two years.

Rachel Shaw is the Deaf Gals Arty Party’s Arts Coordinator and is supported by her team Veronica Stewart and Agnieszka Latif to put on a range of exciting Arts-based workshops that are fully inclusive for all deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing women. As usual, all workshops will be supported by captions and BSL interpreters.

Rachel said, “We are delighted that the Arts Council have funded Deaf-initely Women to put on a range of inclusive Arts-based workshops. We will be hosting these at various venues in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire including Mansfield”.

Teresa Waldron, who is the Managing Director of Deaf-initely Women, said, “Deaf Gals Arty Party is an inclusive project that will bring together deaf female artists to give them opportunities to teach and share their artistic skills with others who are deaf”.

The Arts team have been busy in pulling together an Autumn/Winter 22/23 programme where we are showcasing a range of exciting  Arts workshops to learn more about how to:

• act

• draw

• create fabric prints

• make a Japanese knot bag

• make jewellery

• do an oil painting

• and much more!
